Where the Arts Meet Physics
April 13 through 20, 2017
Lower Level | Classroom Studio
This exhibition presents projects stemming from the course Where the Arts Meet Physics, conducted by Associate Professor of Physics Smitha Vishveshwara. The course surveyed exciting ways in which science has joined hands with a broad array of arts disciplines and celebrated the creativity that has emerged from this synergy. In this course, students became creators, using the knowledge gained from participating in teams containing both arts and physics students, where they learned from one another and created multi-media projects based on physics concepts. Topics of focus included the universe, waves, time, and the quantum world.
Collaborators included Robert Baird from the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning, Latrelle Bright from the Department of Theatre, Sharlene Denos from University of Illinois Laboratory High School, David Hays from the Department of Landscape Architecture, Eva Miller from the Rare Book and Manuscript Library, and Jamie Nelson from the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning.
