The Giertz Education Center serves as an interactive space with "Art You Can Touch" and a place for educators of all kinds to borrow art replicas and posters for you to use with your teaching.
Whether you are a classroom teacher, part of a homeschool cooperative, or a scout leader, you may choose from over 200 art replicas and 800 art posters that represent cultures and artists from around the world from ancient times through today. These resources can help inspire your students and enliven your lessons as you teach art making, creative writing, history, and more.
To find out what is available to you, please feel free to come by and browse the collection or complete the request form. Tell us what you are teaching and your goals and we will suggest resources that you may want to use.
It is best to let us know ahead of time when you plan on coming by, since the Education Center sometimes closes when being used for the museum's school programs. Advance notice helps us to determine our staffing plan during off-peak times.
Objects and posters may be borrowed for four weeks. If you haven't already, borrowers will need to complete a borrower registration form.
The Giertz Education Center is open whenever the museum is open. Please note that it does occasionally close when being used for one of the museum's school programs. It is free to use and accessible to all.
If you have questions about accessing the center or its resources, please contact Education Director Anne Sautman via email or by calling 217-300-9729.
