Fall 2011 Puzzles, Proportion, and Perspective: An In-depth Discussion of Math and Art

Saturday, October 29, 2011; 9 am – 1 pm

Why are we attracted to certain works of art while not others? The answer may surprise you.

Mathematical principles such as Golden Ratios and Linear Perspective provide art objects with a sense of harmony and balance that affects how pleasing the artwork is to the eye. In this workshop, participants will explore the connections between math and art through interactive activities and gallery discussions that can be brought back into the classroom.
