Parking is available in the museum lot at the corner of Peabody Drive and Sixth Street.
On weekends and every day after 6 pm, parking in this and other campus lots is free.
Monday–Friday until 6 pm, parking is metered in the museum lot. (Note, this lot has some spaces designated to accommodate visitors with a valid state disability placard or plate.)
Metered museum parking is also available at the front of the museum on Peabody Drive. When using spaces marked with the Krannert Art Museum Parking sign, please request a window parking pass from the attendant in the lobby to post on your dashboard. (Note, all campus meters must be paid during its posted hours of operation.)
More information on campus parking is available at the University of Illinois Visitor Parking page.
The Kinkead Pavilion entrance on Sixth Street (pictured above) is wheelchair accessible, with automated doors at ground level.
Inside the Bow Gallery, a wheelchair is available for visitors who need additional assistance. Seated walkers are also available for guest use. Please request assistance from a security guard at either entrance to use this equipment. They are ready to provide assistance.
Starting July 9, the Krannert Art Museum lobby will be closed for summer construction. We’ll be refreshing the walls, floors, stairwells, and ceilings to get ready for the new academic year. As a result, the cafe will be closed for the month of July. The doors from the Link Gallery at the Peabody Drive entrance will be closed, but all main floor galleries will be open to the public. The construction will eliminate museum access for users of the accessible ramp entrance on the north side of the School of Art + Design. During the construction, we ask that all museum visitors plan to enter via the Sixth Street entrance.
Accessible parking is available near the east entrance on Sixth Street and in the museum lot. Please note that these spaces are available for visitors with a valid state disability placard or plate and may be metered.
More information on campus parking is available at the University of Illinois Visitor Parking page. There is also an accessibility map of Krannert Art Museum available alongside campus ADA information, including automated doors, parking, and public transportation in the area.
Elevators are located both in the Kinkead Pavilion and in the lobby near the Peabody Street entrance.
Accessible restrooms are located on the west end of the main level in the School of Art + Design, connected to the museum through the Link Gallery.
Service animals are permitted in all public areas of the university, including the galleries at Krannert Art Museum.
The ADA stipulates that service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the service animal's work or the individual's disability prevents using these devices. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls.
The campus division of Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES) website has the most current resources regarding accessibility services available to students and visitors to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Please visit their page on Service Animals on Campus for more information.
