Workshop
Jun 22, 2024 - 5–6:30pm
Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center (202 S. Broadway, Suite 100, Urbana, IL 61801)

During this workshop, participants will explore queer archives as sites of possibility, knowledge production, and world-building.

Cosponsored by the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center.

Beginning with a framework of stewardship, attendees will discuss strategies for recordkeeping and preservation by collectively engaging with a variety of materials and texts. Emphasis will be placed on working intentionally with archives through a praxis of care and affirmation. Participants are asked to be open and ready to discuss their relationships with gathering and collection. Please be mindful that this workshop was conceived as an offering for Black, queer, and other marginalized people as their histories are at a heightened risk of suppression and erasure. Registration is free and participation is limited.
