KAM is located on the corner of Peabody Drive and Sixth Street on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Museum Hours

Monday–Saturday · 9–5 pm
Thursdays until 9 pm, when classes are in session
Closed Sunday

Holiday Closures

The museum is closed each year for the following holidays: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Holiday (Thursday and Friday).

In addition, the museum closes during University of Illinois Reduced Service Days during winter break, typically Dec 22-23 through Jan 3-4.

Krannert Art Museum's exhibitions and events are always free to the public, thanks to the generosity of our donors. If you'd like to support the museum, there is a donation box available in the main lobby. From Interstate 57:

  • Exit at University Avenue and drive east to Mattis Avenue.
  • Turn right onto Mattis and drive south to Kirby Avenue.
  • Turn left onto Kirby and drive east to First Street.
  • Turn left onto First Street, just before State Farm Center and Memorial Stadium, and drive north one block to Peabody Drive.
  • Turn right onto Peabody Drive. Krannert Art Museum is two blocks down, on the north side of the street.

From Interstate 74:

  • Exit at Neil Street and drive south 2.4 miles to Kirby Avenue.
  • Turn left onto Kirby Avenue and drive east to First Street.
  • Turn left onto First Street, just before State Farm Center and Memorial Stadium, and drive north one block to Peabody Drive.
  • Turn right onto Peabody Drive. Krannert Art Museum is two blocks down on the north side of the street.

Fred and Donna Giertz Education Center Hours

September 5 through May 15 (on days when the museum is open)

Monday – Thursday · 3–5 pm
Other times by appointment. To request access please contact Education Director Anne Sautman.

May 16 through August

The Education Center is open by appointment only during the summer months, but its collection can be browsed through the SHARE integrated library system. This service allows teachers to find and to borrow KAM resources at any local library in Illinois. Search the Center collection and reserve items or complete the request form to have the staff select resources for you.
