Enjoy an afternoon at the art museum, with tours designed especially for Illinois students and their families. From special exhibitions of contemporary art to the Arts of Africa, Europe, and the Americas, KAM holds art that can expand your horizons, right here on campus.
On Saturday, April 14, enjoy a special open house with free tours. Tours will be given on the hour 1–4pm, staring in the Gelvin Noel Gallery on the main floor:
Join us for a quick-moving tour where you’ll see, learn, and chat about lots of art. This tour will give you a fun “snapshot” of the museum. Photography is encouraged.
KAM curators will give a personal tour through our special exhibitions, including artwork by Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme and Through the Black Country… by contemporary artist Allan deSouza.
KAM galleries will be open all day long to welcome Illinois students and their families. Although special events are scheduled in the afternoon, all galleries will be open 9 am until 5 pm, so come by when it’s convenient for you!
When you need to refresh, the Espresso Royale Palette café will be open with drinks and snacks from 8:30 am until 4 pm. And in the Link Gallery, art students from the University of Illinois Metals Program will hold the Red Dot Jewelry Sale. Shop for handmade jewelry and craft items created by students especially for Moms Weekend.
