About DJ KamauMau

Kamau Grantham, known as DJ KamauMau, is a psychologist by day and multidisciplinary artist by night! He is one of the founders of Dance Music Therapy and Create and Chill with bla(CK)mau, both community projects that aim to promote the healing power of music and movement.

As a visual artist, Grantham is one half of BLACKMAU, the moniker of the collage and digital art collaboration between Grantham and Stacey Robinson of the University of Illinois' School of Art & Design. Grantham has been deejaying since 1988. After living in New York City for nineteen years, he is drawn to the power of sound systems to create cultural spaces in which communities can come together.
