Taiwanese musician-in-residence Yu-Chen Wang of the Wang-Chen Duo will present a free concert with local ensemble Compost Q at Krannert Art Museum.

The Wang-Chen Duo is comprised of Yu-Chen Wang (gu-zheng, Chinese zither) and Han-Jui “Henry” Chen (DMA ’13, double bass), who have returned to campus for a week-long residency sponsored by the George A. Miller Committee, the School of Music, and the CAS Improviser’s Exchange.

The duo will perform in venues across campus during the week of October 29, including solo concerts and ensemble performances at Smith Memorial Hall and Spurlock Museum’s Knight Auditorium, and culminating in a free workshop and Friday evening concert at Krannert Art Museum.

Compost Q is a music & dance collective of considerable depth and experience, presenting active, rich, organic, and finished collaborations. Together and independently, group members have spent their lives committed to innovation and excellence in the areas of sound and motion. Compost Q concerts unite improvisation and composition in a blend that insures exciting, one-of-a-kind performances. Members include Dorothy Martirano (violin), Erik Lund (trombone), Armand Beaudoin (double bass), Ricardo Flores (percussion), and Kirstie Simpson (dance).
