Prepared by professional archaeologists at the Illinois Transportation Archaeological Research Program (ITARP), this exhibition presented objects of material culture related to Native Peoples who lived in Illinois from approximately 9500 BCE to CE 1800.
More than 100 items were on display, including clay figurines, bracelets and other ornaments, spear points and fish hooks, pipes, cooking jars, digging and weaving tools, and ceremonial objects of exquisite quality and variety.
Krannert Art Museum worked with faculty and students of American Indian Studies, Native American House at the University of Illinois, and other collaborators including those whose ancestors are represented by these objects.
