Bea Nettles’s The Nymph of the Highlands is a bound book with offset lithographs, screen prints, polyester film, tissue paper, a mock-velvet cover, and a vinyl slipcase. Inspired by a creation myth written by Nettles’s sister Connie when she was thirteen years old, this book follows the story of Aquarius, a naiad (water nymph) who is the first human to walk the Earth.

In the tale, Aquarius defends small animals and challenges the lords of water and land, eventually creating peace across the highlands.
