Artist Profile

Fueled by collaborations between artists, teachers, youth, and community members, the group uses art as a means to engage complex issues while working toward an inclusive representation of the contemporary American experience. Public school teacher Ryan Sprott and artists Jason Reed and Ulrich Eigner founded Borderland Collective in 2007 in the small oil town of Big Lake, Texas. The pictures, maps, drawings, and texts produced in Borderland Collective’s projects are housed and archived at Texas State University.

Borderland Collective’s exhibitions and publications have been produced by Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas Women’s University, the University Galleries at Illinois State University, Round Rock Public Library Gallery in Round Rock, TX, the San Antonio Public Library, and Open Source Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.
