KAM Chamber Music Series presents Dr. Guido Sanchez-Portuguez, classical guitarist and lecturer in guitar at the University of Illinois School of Music.

Organized by Daniel McDonough, Clinical Assistant Professor of Music and cellist in the Jupiter String Quartet. Sponsored in part by the University of Illinois School of Music.

Dr. Sanchez-Portuguez will perform a program of classical guitar music in the East Gallery. This performance is free and open to all.

About the Performer
Described as “a most romantic artist who can evoke strong emotions from his audience” by Maria Nockin (Fanfare Magazine), Guido Sanchez-Portuguez has established himself as one of the leading classical guitarists of his generation. He has been a guest in numerous festivals around the world including the Festival de Guitares D’Alsace in France, Guitar Days in Buffalo, NY, Indiana Guitar Festival, Festival de Música de Suchitoto in El Salvador and the Boardwalk Music festival in Virginia. A prize winner in several competitions like the Joann Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition and the Festival Internacional de Guitarra de Costa Rica, he has also directed and produced recordings such as the album “Romance”, featuring the Grammy-Award singer Sylvia McNair.

About the Series
The KAM Chamber Music Series has been co-sponsored by Krannert Art Museum and the School of Music at Illinois since 2014. It provides opportunities for visitors to enjoy performances by faculty and student musicians in an intimate gallery setting at the museum several times each semester, always free of charge.
