Enjoy live music in the galleries and a reception to celebrate Imagination, Faith, and Desire: Early European Prints from 1475–1800 (on view through Feb 28). Featuring Charlotte Mattax Moersch and the Urbana Baroque ensemble performing on period instruments.The evening will include brief remarks by Curator of European and American Art Maureen Warren.


ABOUT THE ENSEMBLE

Urbana Baroque, Champaign-Urbana’s newest period instrument ensemble directed by internationally renowned harpsichordist and University of Illinois Professor Emerita Charlotte Mattax Moersch, performs music of the Baroque era on period instruments. Founded in 2025 by Mattax, their goal is to present passionate programs following historical models. The group consists of Wei-Ting Chen and Dante Freund (violins), Amanda Pond (flute), Wesley Boehm (oboe), and Maxwell Schultz (cello). Recent performances include “Pathos & Passion: A Concert of French Baroque Chamber Music on Period Instruments” and “A Musical Offering: Chamber Music of J.S. Bach, Telemann, and Handel.”
