Come experience immersive sound as you view artworks at Krannert Art Museum! Members of Improvisers Exchange Ensemble will create soundscapes within Krannert Art Museum’s galleries through site-specific solo performance and collective improvisation in reflection and response to artwork on display. Museum visitors are invited to experience viewing the art in these sonic locations.

Krannert Art Museum acknowledges support from the Illinois Arts Council.

Curated by Jason Finkelman, Director of Global Arts Performance Initiatives, together with Krannert Art Museum.

Improvisers Exchange Ensemble is an eclectic student performance group of the School of Music exploring sound and music through collective improvisation. Under the direction of Jason Finkelman, the ensemble develops a practice of omni-idiomatic improvisation, where musicians of all backgrounds and experiences create meaningful music in the moment. In addition to the ensemble, Improvisers Exchange is a multidimensional programming line of Global Arts Performance Initiatives offering concerts, workshops, lectures, artist residencies, and other engagements promoting broadly the field of music improvisation.

We offer a variety of accessibility supports to help ensure all visitors can fully participate. Contact us at kam-accessibility@illinois.edu with any questions or to request accommodation.
