Join us for Looking Back and Moving Forward: A Jazz Recital by jazz vocalist Lara Semetko.

Lara Semetko is a doctoral candidate in Voice Performance - Jazz in the School of Music at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Comfortable in opera and musical theatre, she has performed such roles as Clara Johnson in The Light in the Piazza, Musetta in La Bohéme, Lily Vanessi / Kate in Kiss Me, Kate, Tytania in A Midsummer Night's Dream, & Belle in Disney’s Beauty & the Beast. Semetko received the Illinois Opera Theatre Enthusiasts (IOTE) Encouragement Award in Opera, the Wayne County Council for Arts Young Artist Award, and the Detroit Hungarian Fine Arts Scholarship. She won the Young Artist Competition of Delta Omicron, and first place, Central Region in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Competition in Musical Theatre., and in 2014 and 2015, was a Young Artist at the Greensboro Light Opera and Song. Lara Semetko has served as the Music Director/Vocal Coach at the Michigan Opera Theatre in Detroit for their Gilbert & Sullivan Operetta Workshop productions since 2013.
