The Sudden Sound Concert Series is organized by Jason Finkelman, Director of Global Arts Performance Initiatives in the School of Music.

Saxophonist Aakash Mittal and percussionist Lesley Mok create music at the intersection of improvisation, composition, sonified movement, and noise.
Both artists draw inspiration from a number of cultural traditions including Hindustani raga music, Cuban rumba and Jazz. The colorful dissonances, meditative silences, and angular rhythms that emerge invite the listener to enter a sonic landscape of thoughtful spontaneity.
Mittal and Mok are based in Brooklyn, NY and are active members of the NYC creative music community.
