Join us for Sudden Sound, KAM's avant garde jazz and experimental music series organized by Jason Finkelman.

A pioneering artist in cross-cultural collaborative music, Steve Gorn has performed Indian Classical Music and new American Music on the bansuri bamboo flute, soprano saxophone, and clarinet in concerts and festivals around the world. As a visiting Improvisers Exchange artist, an initiative of the Center for Advanced Study, Gorn leads ensemble members in music reflective of his landmark Indian-Jazz fusion recording, Asian Journal, his 2011 Grammy award winning recording, "Miho-Journey to the Mountain," with Dhruba Ghosh and the Paul Winter Consort, and of his gurus, the late bansuri master Sri Gour Goswami of Kolkata, and Pt. Raghunath Seth of Mumbai, whom he often accompanied in concert.

This concert is presented with support from the Center for Advanced Study (CAS) Improvisers Exchange Initiative. Additional sponsorship provided by CAS, Kathleen Harleman, Analog Outfitters, School of Music, and Krannert Art Museum, with in-kind support provided by WEFT, 90.1 FM.
