The Latina Voces 2025–2026: Student Art Exhibition continues a powerful, Urbana High School student-led exploration of identity, belonging, and cultural expression. Building upon past exhibitions, this year’s presentation highlights the artists’ evolving voices and deep connections to heritage, family, and home. Through immersive installations and personal storytelling, participants reflect on the ways their traditions and lived experiences shape their sense of self and community.
This project was made possible through a grant from the Spencer Foundation (#202200165). The views expressed are those of the exhibition creators and do not necessarily reflect those of the Spencer Foundation. Additional support was provided by La Casa Cultural Latina and the Department of Curriculum & Instruction. Krannert Art Museum acknowledges support from the Illinois Arts Council.
Welcome to the Latina Voces 2025-2026 gallery. Two years ago, we created an exhibition that focused on how others, from the outside, saw us regarding our culture. This year, the exhibition demonstrates our development and growth as artists. The emphasis of our work was to create a familial environment and demonstrate how we use our roots to create new homes. In each section, you will find unforgettable moments and experiences connected to traditions, generations, and comfort. We invite you to explore El Convivio, Mis 15 Años, Las Enseñanzas de Mi Mamá, La Mesa de Comidas Minis, y La Sala. We hope you enjoy it and identify with it because, "my house is your house."
Many thanks to La Casa Cultural Latina for sharing their space for the summer camp, providing a warm and inspiring atmosphere.
