Recent acquisitions of works in various media will allow KAM to tell broader and deeper stories about the African diaspora, colonialism, race, gender, indigenous people, climate, and visual cultures.

A sculpture by Nick Cave from 2018 made from objects found in American thrift stores centers both racism and patriotic symbolism. The 1969 surrealist painting Personnage by Wifredo Lam encompasses African diasporic and Caribbean visual cultures. A significant seventeenth-century history painting depicting Samson and Delilah by Dutch artist Willem Bartsius, a 1934 Arctic landscape by Swedish painter Anna Boberg, and a modern Czech glass sculpture collection will strengthen the European-focused holdings.
