AFRICA_march2020.jpg

Discover art in the African Gallery at KAM. This mask shows two animals who help one another. How do we see animal helpers at home? Imagine: what might these creatures say to one another?

The Bush Buffalo Mask was created by an artist in Burkina Faso, a country in West Africa. This mask tells a story about two animals.

What do you see in this work of art? How are the animals it shows similar to the real animals? How are they different?

What do you think the bush buffalo and the ox pecker bird would say if they could talk?

It is exciting to think about animals helping each other. Do you see this in your own world? Can you make art that tells a story about animals?
