Viktoria Ford, NBCT, K-5 art teacher at Barkstall Elementary School and author of the Contemporary Native American Art Education Module, will present an overview of the curriculum. Teachers will become familiar with the Native American artists and their work that are featured in the module.
Jean Mendoza, Ph.D., an Early Childhood Development specialist and consultant on the project, will provide background on Native American educational issues and guidance on presenting the material in a culturally sensitive way. Workshop participants will also have an opportunity to engage in some of the art making activities covered in the lessons. The module is currently available through the Giertz Education Center.
