Discover the art of thrown and altered clay in this hands-on workshop designed for adult learners of all experience levels. Inspired by Centering Clay: Connection and Innovation in American Studio Ceramics, participants will explore techniques for shaping, altering, and personalizing wheel-thrown clay forms while working in a supportive studio environment.
Led by ceramic artist and educator Catherine Wiesener, this workshop offers an opportunity to experiment with clay, learn new techniques, and connect with others through creative making. Whether you're new to ceramics or looking to expand your skills, all are welcome.

About the Instructor
Catherine Wiesener is a teaching professor in the School of Art & Design at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. A practicing sculptor and ceramic artist, her work explores the Midwestern landscape, stewardship, and our relationship to place through media including clay, bronze, porcelain, wood, and video. She is dedicated to community-engaged teaching and collaborative creative practice.
Note: This program takes place offsite in the Ceramics Lab at Unit One, Allen Hall, Room 89, Lower Level, 1005 W. Gregory Dr., Urbana.
