    Early in last year’s lockdown, I had the privilege of hearing Darren Walker of the Ford Foundation speak about museums and the pandemic. In no uncertain terms, he divided time for art museums into two eras, B.C. and A.C., before and after COVID.

    I have to say I’m incredibly proud of the team at Krannert Art Museum and what they’ve achieved over the last few months, under seriously trying circumstances.

    Celebrate Opening Night with

    This free live event begins in the Krannert Art Museum lobby at 7pm and progresses through the galleries as each musician performs near the artwork that inspired the song they have composed.

    This free live event begins in the Krannert Art Museum lobby at 7pm and progresses through the galleries. Each musician will play or sing within view of the work of art that is the focus of their performance.

    Performances will include:

  • a portion of an oval, walled lawn with steep embankments that are planted with conical evergreen trees all around. At the far end, there are stairs that lead up and out of the garden; its exit is flanked by giant, columns symmetrical on  either side

    Rodriguez’s original score for strings and percussion interrogates how we experience the spaces of Allerton Park and KAM in regard to sound and movement.
